  • > Once the provider creates an order for surgery; we will contact your insurance company for eligibility and benefits for outpatient surgery within 3 to 5 business days.
  • > After obtaining the benefits information our office will provide you with estimated fees for the physician and facility. **Patient is responsible for obtaining anesthesia fee.
  • > If your insurance company requires authorization for a specific procedure, we will submit an authorization request, which may take up to 15 business days.

All physician fees for Arizona Hearing Center - Mark J. Syms, M.D. and outstanding balances must be paid no later than 10 days prior to surgery date.

The insurance representative provides your in-and out-of-network benefits for outpatient surgery, as well as the current amount paid toward your deductible and out-of-pocket expenses.

​Your insurer may not pay all charges. If you have questions about your coverage, we recommend you contact your insurance provider directly.

Please note that any cancellation with less than 7 business days' notice from the scheduled
surgery date is subject to a $250.00 cancellation fee. That cancellation fee is not covered by
insurance.

Before Surgery: What you must do:

Medications / Substances

Stop blood thinners 10 days before surgery (with prescribing doctor approval).

Avoid all supplements, herbs, vitamins, and minerals.

Ensure your correct pharmacy is listed in your patient portal.

Stop nicotine/tobacco at least 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after surgery.

Fasting & Preps

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight before surgery.

Shower/Bathe the night before or morning of surgery

Remove all makeup, nail polish, piercings, and jewelry.

Logistics & What to Bring

Arrange an adult (18+) to drive you home and stay with you 24-48 hrs.

Bring ID, insurance card, and payment (if required).

Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.

Day of Surgery - What to Expect

Arrive at the facility at the instructed time.

You will be prepped and anesthesia will be given.

After surgery, recovery time is required before discharge.

You cannot drive yourself home.

Mild dizziness, drainage, or ear fullness is common.

Avoid nose blowing; sneeze with mouth open.

When to Contact Us - Warning Signs

Fever >101°F not improving.

Increased pain not releived by medication.

Heavy bleeding or worsening drainage.

Redness, swelling, or heat at incision.

Severe dizziness or facial weakness.

Signs of infection.
